Description

Forward Controls Design DPW Dual Purpose Wrench

NOTE: the first batch of DPW has very light engraving.  Torque values are on the instructions card and below:

Torque value for muzzle devices: 25 ft lb, +/- 5 ft lb.
Torque value for TDP spec castle nuts: 38 to 42 ft lb.  Note: do not use JCW or DPW on aluminum castle nuts, or just don't use aluminum castle nuts.

DPW (Dual Purpose Wrench) is a dual purpose wrench that logically combines two of the most often used AR15/M16 armorer tools in small and light weight package, with a 3/4" wrench optimized for suppressor mounts with 3/4 flats (also compatible with A2 spec 3/4" flats) on one end, and a 3 lug castle nut wrench on the other.

Instead of a large and heavy armorer's wrench that does all acceptably well but in practice, most users only use 2 or 3 functions on it, we prefer compact, dedicated wrenches optimized for the tasks they're designed to handle exceptionally well.  JCW (Joint Castle nut Wrench), JMW (Joint Muzzle devices Wrench), CBW (Combination Barrel nut wrench) are all examples of compact, light and finely machined tools.

DPW largely follows the form factor of these dedicated wrenches,  it breaks from the FCD tools convention by having two different functions that are not necessarily related to one another: a 3/4" muzzle devices wrench, and a castle nut wrench, two of the often used functions of an armorer's wrench.

The 3/4" muzzle devices wrench is thinner than that found on an armorer's wrench, the thinner profile enables it get into tight spaces.  The 3 lug castle nut wrench fits snug and securely on in spec, TDP spec castle nuts

DPW is small and light enough to be carried full time in a pack, an application a 12" long, 1.9lb armorer's wrench woud be ill suited for.  Though it wasn't originally designed to be a portable armorer's wrench, its size, weight and practicality fit the mission profile.
.

DPW, like JMW, JCW and CBW, is designed for use with a torque wrench with a 1/2 drive socket, with a soft contour that's pleasant in the user's hands.

Machined from a solid block, heat treated and black oxide coated, DPW is a joint project between Revival Defense and FCD.

Weight: 3.8oz
Width: 1.82" (castle nut), 1.4" (muzzle device)
Length: 3.62"

Torque value for muzzle devices: 25 ft lb, +/- 5 ft lb.
Torque value for TDP spec castle nuts: 38 to 42 ft lb.  Note: do not use JCW or DPW on aluminum castle nuts, or just don't use aluminum castle nuts.

Proudly designed and made in USA.

CAUTION!
Do not exceed 50 ft lb of torque on the suppressor/thinner side of the JMW.

Take care to neutralize Rockset or thread locker on the existing muzzle device already mounted on the barrel prior to wrenching.  Using DPW's 3/4" wrench to remove a muzzle device with Rockset or other thread locker intact can damage and bend the DPW's prongs.  If you don't know what was used on the existing muzzle device, please take it to a gunsmith, or contact the manufacturer for info, before applying 100 ft lb of torque on your muzzle device.
